State Board of Education
The West Virginia State Board of Education consists of nine members, each serving nine-year terms. Board members are appointed by the governor and must be approved by the senate. Three nonvoting ex-officio members also serve on the board: the state superintendent, the chancellor of the state’s Higher Education Policy Commission, and the chancellor of Community and Technical College Education.
